This series consists of telegrams, correspondence, reports, and memorandums relating to the sale, production, and marketing of petroleum in nations of the Middle East. There is information on oil and gas refineries, port and storage facilities, economic forecasts for the oil industry, energy conservation programs, research and development for new forms of energy, and new sites and fields for drilling and exploration. There is also information on the structure, function, and operations of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and social and political conditions in each country impacting the oil industry. This series also contains information on the continuing Arab-Israeli conflict.
